Kids Audiobooks - A Fun Way To Introduce Children To Literature

Many people remember when they were a kid and got their first audio book with an actual book to read along with. Disney stories were probably the most popular ones when I was a child.

These were a lot of fun for us and are making a huge comeback.

Audio books help children learn how to read when by reading an entire book to them out loud and encouraging them to read along with them. They usually have some kind of noise that lets you know when it is time to turn the pages. Kids love these as they usually relate to movies they have already seen and are already interested. They have music, singing, and lots of silly voices and sound effects to keep children interested. There are stages in kids lives when they understand much more than they are actually able to read themselves. This is where audio books can work wonders for them and greatly increase their reading skills.

They are a lot of fun for family time as well. It is very nice to sit on the couch or a chair with your child and read along with them as the story is read on the stereo. Audio books geared for kids aren't boring and have a lot of very funny noises and characters just like kids movies. This is a great alternative to sitting around and watching TV or playing on the computer. It helps everyone bond together and do something they all enjoy.

This is a great way to help pacify your children during long drives also. You can put the audio books into your car stereo and it might give you a little extra peace and quiet for the drive. Some cars have headphone jacks built right in to the backseats. If they work, (some just don't), buy some headphones for the kids and let them plug themselves in. There is usually a separate volume dial back there by the jack that lets them adjust the volume themselves.

You can get your children many different types of audio books at your local retailer, used bookstore, or electronics shop usually. The library usually has a great selection of kid's audio books also and can help teach your child responsibility with their very own library card. Depending on the age and maturity of your child, they like to have a card with their name on it. It makes them feel special and if you have one also, you are both part of the same little club. If your kid really enjoys audio books, you might get them a small boom box or CD player for their bedroom if they are good. They also help children fall asleep and are better than a television in their rooms.
